If you are an entrepreneur developing new tech-related products and forming a company, the UCONN Tech-Knowledge Portal is here to support your effort. The Tech-Knowledge Portal – a U.S. Economic Development Administration funded University Center program – provides an entry-point to UCONN for industry.

The portal can help companies, inventors and/or entrepreneurs interested in accessing UCONN technology available for licensing through our tech transfer office and by helping to integrate that technology into their plans. TKP staff helps make the right connections, foster relationships, and if needed, will provide program support.

TKP staff can help define potential advanced development projects and can link expert faculty, graduate assistants, outside resources, investors and funding agencies together, all with the goal of building new profitable businesses and creating jobs.

If you need space for your new venture, we also have a business incubator, the Technology Incubation Program (TIP), which allows new companies that have a technology linkage or synergistic relationship with the university, the ability to locate on campus and access resources that could be otherwise unattainable for a fledgling company.

TIP supports the incubation process offering lab and office facilities, business support and planning resources, access to faculty experts, expensive instrumentation and specialized equipment.

With facilities at Storrs, Avery Point and Farmington, the TIP is home to a variety of young companies. In some cases TIP clients are working with UCONN technology and others have their own intellectual property, but collaborate with faculty and students.

Additionally, UConn R&D looks for entrepreneurs who have expertise in specific industry areas, familiarity with start-up companies or have started a company, or are in a career transition and looking to be involved in the development of new companies. Opportunities also exist for part-time advisory board level participation at all stages of company development. Most often, the technology evaluated by UConn R&D is at an early stage. Strong leadership is needed to move these projects forward, increase their appeal to investors, and position them for further industry collaborations.
